Popular Nottingham burger restaurant announces closure after 3 years

A restaurant and takeaway specialising in gourmet burgers has closed its doors. Ohannes opened in Sherwood in July 2020 on the corner of Mansfield Road and Marshall Street - the third venue in the chain at the time after Arnold and Nottingham city centre.

The Turkish-founded brand's handmade burgers are served in a sweet pretzel bun. As well as a classic beef burger and cheeseburger, there's the Meat Mania, Peri Peri Chicken and the Big Lebowski, topped with salsa, red kidney beans and jalapeno.

The Sherwood branch opened with the promise of "a little bliss in every bite" and proved popular with locals, who gave top reviews. One said: "Came here a few weeks back. The food was exceptional, you get a lot for your money. Staff were very friendly too. Highly recommended if you're in the area." Another said: "Great food, great value, and super friendly service."

Signs have already been removed from the premises, which for several years were empty. Director Murat Yer said: "It is too close to the city and Arnold branches. This is the reason for closure."

Customers in Sherwood were saddened by the news. One woman said: "What a shame, love their chicken burgers."

Ohannes also has branches in Beeston, Hucknall, Mansfield and over the Derbyshire border in Ilkeston. Extending to other parts of the UK, the burgers are on sale in Liverpool and Preston.
