Popular Galloway music festival announces first acts for 2024 lineup

A POPULAR Galloway music festival has announced the first acts on its 2024 lineup.

Celebrating its 26th year, the Knockengorroch festival is to feature new acts from Scotland, the UK and beyond as well as welcoming back previous artists.

Since its first festival event in 1998 near the Carsphairn in Kirkcudbrightshire, the annual festival has featured Young Fathers, Skerryvore and Aziza Brahim and attracts 3000 people each year.

Liz Holmes, director of Knockengorroch said: "Our line-up presents some of the best music from Scotland and further afield, bringing artists and bands from near and far to make music and tell stories of who they are and where they come from.

"All of this is to take part in a beautiful, secluded river valley in the Carsphairn hills, where our family chose to make our home back in the 70s. We invite all curious minded people who love great music to join us and make it their festival home in 2024."

As part of its membership to the A Greener Festival and Music Declares Emergency initiatives, Knockengorroch runs a range of green policies.

The festival site is a single-use plastic free zone and has a dedicated waste recycling team. All printed materials use recycled paper, and the festival uses local suppliers and food traders where possible.

Knockengorroch is also currently devising its official language policy, laying out its commitment to honour and support Scottish languages as well as equal opportunities and diversity as part of the PRSF Keychange 50% pledge, within which they promise that at least 50% of their bands have female or gender minority representation.

Tickets are now on sale, and regular Knockengorrochers and festival newcomers alike can expect "a mix of Afro Beat, Dance, Folk, Reggae, Drum n Bass and more against the beautiful backdrop of the Carsphairn Hills of Kirkcudbrightshire".

Knockengorroch 2024 will return on Thursday 26th May - Sunday 26th May Tickets are available now, including payment plans here.
