Prediction market bettors are increasingly wagering that Cilia Flores, the wife of former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, could be released from U.S. custody before the end of the year, fueling speculation that Washington and Caracas may eventually reach some form of negotiated agreement.
According to cryptocurrency-based prediction platform Polymarket, traders currently assign roughly a 42% probability that Flores will be released from custody by December 31, a sharp increase from earlier expectations. The market has attracted more than $324,000 in trading volume for the year-end contract and more than $1.3 million across related markets.
