Policemen attacked during raid in southwest Delhi

NEW DELHI: A team from the Delhi Police's Special Cell was stopped and faced physical confrontation by a group of individuals while conducting a raid in southwest Delhi.

This incident transpired on Thursday evening when the team, under the leadership of an inspector, was on a mission to apprehend a suspect involved in an illegal drug supply case in Kapashera's Samalkhan locality.

During the operation, the team successfully apprehended an individual named Rahul from his residence in connection with the ongoing case. However, as they were transporting Rahul to the police station, a group of locals in the area encircled and confronted the special cell team.

These individuals attempted to obstruct the officers and engaged in a physical altercation with the team. Regrettably, three of our officers sustained minor injuries during this altercation and scuffle," as reported by a police official.

In response to this incident, the police have registered a case under section 332 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to "voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from performing their duty." The case has been filed against those individuals who were involved in the assault on the officers at the Kapashera Police Station.

Furthermore, several other individuals were subsequently detained for their involvement in the scuffle with the law enforcement personnel.
