A police officer has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Sydney bar following a lengthy trial.
Ankit Thangasamy, 32, was charged with sexual intercourse without consent on March 9, 2022, over an alleged incident in the toilet cubicle of of a bar in Sydney's Haymarket area in December 2021.
On Thursday, he was found not guilty and formally acquitted of the charge.
Mr Thangasamy represented himself in court after pleading not guilty, relying on a large amount of evidence including hours of CCTV footage.
In the lead up to the trial, Mr Thangasamy told the court he had received from prosecutors more than 50 documents running over 1200 pages and thousands of files totalling 32GB on a USB, as well as a CD of intercepted telephone calls.
He also told the court at one point he didn't want to sound like a "self-represented conspiracy theorist".
