Police up patrols over reports of 'knife incident' at Bingham park

Police have upped patrols following reports on social media of a knife incident at a park in Bingham.

People on a local community Facebook page reported seeing a young boy wielding what appeared to be a pocket knife at Wychood Play Park in Wychwood Road.

It was claimed the youth was joined by six or seven other boys who shouted foul language and locals said they'd been left feeling intimidated.

All the allegations have been put to Nottinghamshire Police.

Officers have upped patrols in the area in recent days.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Rushcliffe Rob Lawton said: “Antisocial behaviour can have a devastating impact on the community and surrounding areas, and we will always investigate any reports made to us.

“Nobody should be made to feel uncomfortable while going about their day and in this instance while out with children at a play park.

“We would like to reassure the public that we take reports of knives and antisocial behaviour extremely seriously and will always do everything we can to investigate any incidents. We have had officers out on patrols in the area over the last few days.

“We have had officers out on patrols in the area over the last few days to offer reassurance to the residents in the community that we take all reports extremely seriously."
