Police are to increase their patrols in Old Trafford after a teenager was left with serious injuries in a stabbing on Sunday (November 27). Officers had been called Darnley Street in the early hours of the morning, at around 3am.
Greater Manchester Police received a report of the stabbing following the robbery of a 15-year-old male, who was rushed to hospital and remains there for treatment for serious injuries. However, he remains in a stable condition currently.
It is believed three males were in a black vehicle at the time. A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody for questioning after being detained in Chorlton.

Now, Section 60 stop and search powers have been introduced within Old Trafford as a response to the stabbing, which is the third knife attack in Greater Manchester in just six days. There will also be an increased number of officers patrolling the streets in a bid to reassure the community.
The specialist powers mean officers can stop search anyone in a defined area within a specific timeframe. They are set to last for 12 hours, from Sunday evening until 4am on Monday (November 28). Extra uniform and non-uniform officers have also been deployed to the area as investigations into the attack continue.
Detective Sergeant John Seaton from Trafford CID, said: “This is a vicious attack on a young man in the early hours of this morning and following extensive work in a short time period we are now in a position to appeal to the public to ask if they saw anything suspicious around the Old Trafford area at the time of the incident, or indeed if they saw what happened.
“We are exploring all lines of enquiry and have already made an arrest in connection with this incident. We have increased our patrols in the area to offer visible reassurance and also encourage anyone to speak to our officers in person as they are there to help you if you have any concerns."
