Police start probe after bullying plaint

KOLKATA: Cops have registered an FIR after a private engineering college located at Rajarhat lodged a complaint against their two first-year students, alleging that they were bullying and using expletives against their classmate — a student of electronics and communication engineering — over a period of time.

The Techno City police registered a case under various sections of the IPC.

“Following a complaint from the father of the victim, a B.Tech first-year student, the institute has taken the matter very seriously. It has been alleged that two other students have been bullying the victim for some time. On May 30, the two had inappropriately touched the victim and abused him verbally... According to the AICTE norms, on behalf of the institute, I would like to lodge a complaint against the two students for abusing their classmate,” the director of the institute stated in his complaint. The police started a probe.
