An enhanced policing operation will be launched tonight for the visit to Oldham Athletic FC's Boundary Park ground of York City FC, GMP have announced.
The force said in a statement it was 'aware that this fixture may attract some tensions' - with a warning issued over fan violence and anti-social behaviour. The club, meanwhile, stressed supporters who run onto the pitch or use pyrotechnics like flares from the stands would be committing criminal offences.
In a statement, GMP said: "Oldham Athletic Football Club will meet York City in a national league fixture at Boundary Park in Oldham tonight, Tuesday 24 January 2023.
