Police name Paisley cyclist who died after incident involving car in Glasgow

A male cyclist from Paisley has died after a crash involving a vehicle. He has been named as John Morton.

The 64-year-old was cycling on Fielden Street in Glasgow's east end around 8.40am on Monday, May 29 when the tragedy occurred. Police say a grey Audi A3 was involved in the incident.

John was severely injured as a result of the crash and was rapidly transported to the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medics worked to save his life.

Sadly, John passed away on Thursday, June 1. Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts remain with John’s family and friends at this very difficult time for them.”

In the wake of the incident, police are trying to assess exactly what happened and are hoping any witnesses will get in touch with them.

Sergeant Coutts continued: “Enquiries into the crash are ongoing and anyone with information that may assist us should contact 101 with reference number 0737 of May 29, 2023.”
