Police name 2 women killed in A38 crash which saw car leave the road near M1

Two women who were killed in a crash on the A38 have been named by Derbyshire police. At around 2.15am on Saturday, April 23, 21-year-old Priscialla Owusu was driving a silver Ford Focus when it left the road.

She and front seat passenger Rebecca Donkor, 21, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Both women were from Derby. A third person, a rear male passenger, also died in the collision.

He was previously named as Kudakwashe Mdianyama, 23, from Coventry. A file has been prepared for the coroner and an inquest date will be set in the coming months.

Two others were seriously injured in the collision. The car left the road and collided with a tree, which caused the vehicle to catch fire. At the time of the incident, the A38 was closed in both directions from junction 28 of the M1 to the B600 exit for Somercotes.

The incident happened on the southbound carriageway of the A38. And the closure, which spanned the village of Pinxton, on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border, remained in place for several hours.
