An investigation is underway after an act of 'deliberate' fire-raising at a Paisley farm.
Police say they are carrying out enquiries to ascertain who is responsible for the blaze which took hold at Hawkhead House Farm on Monday.
An eyewitness told the Paisley Daily Express that it’s not the first time a fire has been started at the farm, with scrap metal and old vehicles housed on the land.
They said that, just before 6pm, they saw boys looking past their house on Ben Alder Drive and went to see what was happening. It was then they came across the well-developed fire.
The farm gate was locked, preventing access to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), who had to run their hose past the end house on Ben Alder Drive to douse the flames.
A spokesperson from the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police Division said nobody was injured in the blaze and their investigation is continuing.
“Around 5.50pm on Monday, May 1, police received a report of a fire at Hawkhead House Home Farm, Ben Alder Drive, Paisley," they said.
“SFRS extinguished the fire and there were no reports of anyone injured. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing."
A SFRS spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 5.51pm on Monday, May 1, to reports of a caravan on fire at Ben Alder Drive, Paisley.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a derelict caravan. There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
