POLICE have issued a warning to drivers on the NC500 after a number of arrests were made on the popular route.
The force captured 60 vehicles in just 48 hours committing various traffic offences including speeding.
It’s part of Operation CEDAR (Challenge, Educate, Detect and Reduce) in a bid to reduce the number of deaths on Scotland’s roads.
The latest offences were captured between August 19 and 20 when at least 12 cars were pulled over for speeding.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “During these patrols, 60 vehicles were stopped by officers, which included 12 drivers being reported for speeding, driving licence, insurance and document offences.
“Several drivers were also given safety advice.”
Dangerous driving has previously been an issue on the NC500 as we told last year how a group of supercars had been spotted parked in dangerous spots along the route.
A Facebook group named NC500: The Dirty Truth has also been outspoken on the issues residents living on the route are facing.
This includes people using the countryside as a toilet rather than designated facilities and visitors parking on residential streets.
Road policing constable Rhuaraidh Mackay said: “These proactive patrols emphasise our commitment to improving road safety across the Highlands and Islands area.”
Police have previously reported an increase in complaints of poor driving and speeding.
