"Detectives from the homicide squad and a number of other police units have conducted a significant search over the past few days in an attempt to locate Rajab," a police spokeswoman said.

Police believe those involved in the stabbing were known to each other and that it was a targeted attack.

Detectives urged Rajab to hand himself in.

Police have asked anyone who sees Rajab not to approach him and to immediately contact triple-0.

A second 45-year-old man from Glenroy was arrested at the scene has since been charged with aggravated burglary, theft and common law assault.
