Most of the Hunter region's police commanders who were due to move amid a shake-up of local top brass have started at their new posts.
Hunter Valley Police District commander Superintendent Tracy Chapman has taken the reins as acting commander of Newcastle City Police District until November, when Superintendent Kylie Endemi permanently takes on the role.
Superintendent Endemi, based in Tamworth, is moving from the Oxley Police District.
