Police appeal for missing Scot to get in touch as CCTV images show last sighting

CCTV images have been released in the search for a missing man from the Highlands. Matthew James from Ballachulish was sighted in Arbroath earlier this week and police have confirmed he made contact with his family on Friday.

However, the 45-year-old is still being treated as a missing person until police can confirm his whereabouts.

Matthew is around 5ft 10 inches in height with a heavy build, short black hair and short facial hair. He has his car, a black Citroen Berlingo with him.

Highland & Islands Police Division said: "Enquiries have established that Matthew was in the High Street in Arbroath on Monday, 23 January 2023, and officers have been carrying out enquiries in that area. He also has connections in South Lanarkshire, the Highlands, Glasgow and Gourock.

"Extensive enquiries are continuing to locate Matthew and he recently made contact with family members yesterday, 27 January, 2023. However, until his whereabouts can be confirmed by police, he is still being treated as a missing person.

"If Matthew sees this appeal, please contact Police Scotland. Similarly if anyone has seen Matthew or has any information as to his whereabouts please contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting 3859 of 20 January, 2023."
