Police appeal for information following vehicle fire in Port Glasgow

POLICE Scotland are asking the public for any information following a wilful vehicle fire in Port Glasgow.

A black Volvo XC90 car was deliberately set ablaze at around 7pm on Friday, January 17 2025 in Burnside Avenue, near to Southfield Avenue.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with no injuries reported.

In a statement, Detective Constable Ruth Elder said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything to contact us.

“We also ask anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage of the area at the time to come forward.”

She added, "Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 3039 of 17 January, 2025. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
