Police appeal after pedestrian suffers serious injuries in Neath and is taken to hospital in air ambulance

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 65-year-old woman was seriously injured in a crash.

The pedestrian was airlifted to hospital after the incident at Victoria Gardens, Neath at around 3.15pm on Thursday (January 27).

South Wales Police said that the woman, from the Cimla area, had been hit by a blue Mazda 2.

A spokeswoman for the force said that the woman had suffered "serious injuries" and she was taken the University Hospital of Wales, Caridff, by air ambulance.

Eye witnesses said that the helicopter had landed on a nearby rugby pitch, and the road was closed for several hours as investigations were carried out at the scene.

The police spokeswoman added: "Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage of the collision."

Anyone who may be able to help officers in this investigation is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 and quote reference 2200030329 .
