Police have launched an investigation after the theft of an estimated half a million pound worth of tyres from a Lanarkshire wholesaler.
The tyres are believed to have been taken from yards in the Newmains and Chapelhall areas on a number of occasions throughout September.
Theives made off with Lassa, Tomket, Waterfall, Anchee and Threea brands of tyre.
Following enquiries, a large quantity of the tyres have been recovered from across Lanarkshire and Glasgow, however a significant amount remain outstanding.
Officers are asking for anyone with information, or who believes they may have seen any of these tyres for sale under suspicious circumstances, to come forward.
Detective Constable Gerry Hattie, from Wishaw CID, said: “This was a significant and valuable series of thefts.
“It is likely that those responsible will be attempting to move the tyres on and sell them to unsuspecting motorists or garages via a number of means, so we are asking people to be aware.
“If you have any information which could assist our enquiries, please call police on 101, quoting incident 1357 of 28 September, 2022. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
