Prime Minister Tusk emphasized the country's commitment to safety by allocating around 10 billion zlotys ($2.5 billion) towards securing its eastern border. Addressing Polish troops in Krakow to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino, a pivotal victory against the Nazis during World War II, Prime Minister Tusk highlighted the importance of fortifying Poland's borders for both peacetime security and wartime defense.
Notably, Poland had previously erected a $400 million wall along its border with Belarus to curb the influx of migrants that surged from that direction in 2021. However, the current pro-EU government deems it necessary to further reinforce these border defenses to ensure enhanced protection.
