Pokimane says she no longer feels comfortable streaming amid objectification concerns

One of streaming's most recognisable faces has delivered a deeply personal message to her audience, and it has struck a chord across the internet. Imane "Pokimane" Anys, who is among the most prominent figures on the internet and someone who has spent over a decade as one of the faces of Twitch, opened up about no longer feeling comfortable streaming due to continued objectification from viewers.

In a clip that quickly spread across social media, Pokimane made clear that her relationship with her chat has fundamentally changed. She further added that she has no intention of tolerating disrespect the way she once did.

Pokimane speaks out on objectification, says streaming no longer feels the same

Speaking directly to her audience during a recent stream, Pokimane carefully framed her comments without sounding ungrateful. She told viewers that she wants to feel genuinely comfortable while streaming and respected by the people in her chat, and that if she senses anyone attempting to establish new ways of objectifying her, she will not simply brush it off as she once might have.

Most importantly, she addressed the expectation that she should still behave like a younger, more tolerant version of herself: "You can't expect me to still be like the 21-year-old version of myself, which frankly I'm just not." It is a line that resonated deeply with fans, and is a clear indication of exhaustion for someone who has spent years in an environment that has reduced her to her appearance.

This moment did not emerge from nowhere. Pokimane has been one of the most vocal female streamers on the issue of objectification and harassment throughout her career. Earlier in 2026, she had already spoken out forcefully against the growing trend of AI-generated inappropriate images, describing it as something she had personally experienced for a long time.

She also previously left Twitch, citing the platform's increasingly toxic culture, referencing what she described as a normalization of bigotry and regressive behaviour in online communities.

How did the community react?

The clip spread rapidly, with many fans expressing solidarity and praising Pokimane for speaking out clearly. The statement was seen as a natural evolution of a boundary she has been trying to draw for years.

However, with the internet playing its role, there were still a few negative comments made, which further intensifies the statement made by Pokimane.
