Pokemon cards get a vintage facelift when the Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic set arrives in the near future.
Classic Pokemon cards are set to make a comeback in the form of a new anniversary set celebrating 27 years of the franchise, a trailer in today’s February 2023 Pokemon presents livestream has revealed. The trailer showcased two players trading blows with the likes of elemental cards, trainers cards, and of course classic Pokemon.
Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic, as it’s apparently been dubbed by The Pokemon Company, brings back all the vintage card designs people will recognise. Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise were all prominently teased as part of the announcement, which promised that “more information” would soon be available on the official pokemon trading card game website.
The set itself boasts a fairly stripped back design, comprising of a simple black board, corresponding black and white trading cards and a series of chips that will presumably affect gameplay. The trailer did note that Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic “cannot be used in official tournaments” so it seems like this vintage throwback is purely a way to celebrate the longstanding card game and Pokemon series as a whole.
More to come…
