PNB case: Accused can't dictate probe method, says court while rejecting plea for video conference

Mumbai: A special CBI court here has rejected fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi's sister Purvi Modi's plea to record her statement in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case through video conference, stating that an accused cannot dictate how the investigation should be conducted.

"The progressive approach of the law" does not permit an individual to commit serious offences in India, flee abroad and then "dictate the investigating agency and to the court to record his/her statement through VC," it said.
