PM Modi applauds Indian women's badminton team for historic victory at BATC

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the Indian women's badminton team for their historic victory at the Badminton Asia Team Championships, describing it as a "historical accomplishment" and praising the exemplary performance of India's "nari shakti" (women power) in sports.

The Indian women's team, led by seasoned shuttler PV Sindhu, clinched the Badminton Asia Team Championships title with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Thailand in the final match held in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

Anmol Kharb's stellar performance in the decisive fifth rubber secured the historic win for India.

In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi congratulated the Indian team, expressing his admiration for their remarkable achievement.

"A historical accomplishment! Congratulations to the incredible Indian team who have, for the first time ever, won the Women's Team Trophy at the Badminton Asia Championships," he wrote.

Highlighting the significance of the team's success, Modi emphasized that their victory would serve as inspiration for aspiring athletes across the country.

"Their success will motivate several upcoming athletes," he added.

The Prime Minister also commended the overall performance of Indian women athletes in various sports, describing their excellence as "phenomenal."
