Welcome to January, that wonderful time of the year when you decide you’re definitely going to get healthier and start a five-a-side team.
That is until you see the PlayStation Store has a big sale on, FIFA 23 is less than £30, and you think to yourself, I’m better at playing football on my PS5 anyway. That's right folks, Sony has got into the January sales spirit by slashing the prices of more than 1,300 PS5 and PS4 games by up to 75% on the Playstation Store, including some of last year’s best games.
Elden Ring for both PS4 and PS5 is 30% off at £34.99, or £45.49 for the Deluxe Edition, which also includes a digital art book and soundtrack. FIFA 23 is 50% off at £29.99 for the standard edition on PS4, or £34.99 for the standard edition on PS5.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is half-price. The cross-gen bundle, which includes the game on both PS4 and PS5 as well as five hours of double experience, and Bobby Kotick Devil horns (ok maybe not the last one) is a cool £35.99. While the standard PS4 edition of Call of Duty: Vanguard will cost you just shy of 30 notes at £29.99.
The cross gen of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has had 60% shaved off its price., and includes *deep breath* both PS4 and PS5 versions of the game, The Woods Operator in MW/WZ, the AR Weapon Blueprint in MW/WZ, the Confrontation Weapons Pack, and Captain Price Operator Skin. Phew.
The Standard PS4 edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is 67% off at £19.79, which not so coincidentally, is also the year the Cold War started.
Hidden gems?
Hey you there, you seem to be a person of discerning tastes. Not one to follow the crowd into buying Elden Ring. But If you haven’t yet. You really should. (and not just because it’s won a truckload of awards.)
Anyway, if you’re the kind of person who is up for experiences a little more off the beaten path, there are some great hidden gems to be found (or at least Sony thinks they are).
Such niche titles as Hades, now reduced to a hellish £13.39, Stray at £19.99 ( or free on PS+ extra), and the game that was robbed at this year’s game awards. Metal: Hellsinger for £18.74 on PS4 or £24.74 for the cross-gen bundle.
The little-known, critically acclaimed, BAFTA-winning RPG, Disco Elysium - The Final Cut for both the PS4 and PS5 is also 50% off at £16.49.
Then finally there’s the PS4/PS5 version of the incredible Inscryption. An absolute snip at £11.19. It’s chilling, weird, and the kind of experience universities that run game design should be writing modules about. Oh, and it's probably the closest thing to a hidden gem I’ve mentioned.
