A former school site used as inspiration for Derry Girls is to be redeveloped into homes for the over-55s.
'The West Shore' will be an independent living village for the over-55 population of Derry on "one of the most coveted locations in Ireland".
Developer Urban Pulse received full planning approval for the development last October - with £22million set to be spent on the new gated community on the banks of Foyle.

The new owners of the former Thornhill School on the Culmore Road said it was one of Northern Ireland's most exclusive sites.
They said: "The site is to provide a ‘best in class’ independent living village for the over-55 population of Derry on one of the most coveted locations in Ireland.
"Sitting on the banks of Foyle with private access to the river-walkway the scheme will incorporate luxurious accommodation, contemporary amenity spaces and an expanse of external communal areas."
Meanwhile, Urban Village is also set to build 40 new apartments near Derry city centre - subject to planning permission.
The scheme consists of 28, one-bed apartments and 11, two-bed apartments, with car parking spaces provided within a new communal parking court.
The planned apartments will be four and three-storeys in height, reflective of dwellings in the surrounding area.
A statement issued to Derry City and Strabane District Council said: "The proposed development provides the opportunity for a new fit-for-purpose residential scheme to meet the future housing needs of Derry City.
"It has been designed to address the physical character of the site, whilst also complementing and respecting the established surroundings of the area."
