Plane Crash in Sao Paulo state, Brazil, all 64 killed

Brazil: A plane carrying 64 passengers crashed outside São Paulo on Friday afternoon, all are dead , according to a statement issued by airline Voepass.

Footage circulating on social media showed the plane’s fall and its destroyed fuselage in flames on the ground. 
The plane engulfed into flames on the ground.

“The company regrets to inform that all 61 people on board flight 2283 died at the scene,” Voepass said in a statement, revising the death toll down from an initial assessment of 62 dead. 

There were over 58 passengers and four crew members on board, according to the company.

Videos circulating on social media showed the plane spiraling out of the sky before hitting the ground as people in the neighbourhood shouted in panic. Another video showed the debris of the plane in flames on the ground. 

Airplane of regional airline VOEPASS

The ATR-72 aircraft operated by airline Voepass Linhas Aereas was flying from Cascavel in Parana state to Guarulhos in Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo's state fire brigade confirmed on social media that a plane crashed in Vinhedo and sent seven crews to the accident area.

58 passengers and 4 crew members on board

Airline Vopas confirmed in a statement that a plane flying to Sao Paulo's International Airport Guarulhos crashed, carrying 58 passengers and 4 crew members. The cause of the accident is not yet known.

3 days of mourning declared in Brazil

Brazil's President Lula da Silva expressed grief over the accident and declared 3 days of mourning. He posted on the social media platform X, writing, "In memory of the 61 victims of the tragic accident in Vinhedo, we have declared 3 days of official mourning in the country.
