Plain clothes cops arrest man at Victoria station with 'large kitchen knife' stuffed down his trousers

A 'suspicious looking' man stopped by plain-clothes cops at Victoria station was arrested after a 'large kitchen knife' was found stuffed down his trousers. Police say the man was detained following a 'struggle' with officers outside the city centre station on Friday afternoon.

He was also found to be in possession of drugs. Late last night he was said to be still in custody awaiting questioning.

In a statement on Facebook GMP City Centre said: "Our specialist #ProjectServator officers have been deployed in the city centre this afternoon, using a range of specialist resources to detect and deter those looking to conduct hostile reconnaissance and/or commit criminality.

"Whilst at Manchester Victoria, plain clothes officers have sighted a male acting suspiciously. When the male was engaged with, he has resisted officers, resulting in a struggle on the floor.

"During the struggle a large kitchen knife was sighted on the male. The knife was located tucked inside the top of the males trousers, along with a quantity of drugs stored in another pocket.

"Thanks to a quick response by those officers involved, the male was safely detained, arrested and remains in custody to be interviewed."
