Pivot teams up with Bosch to power their new sleeker Shuttle AM e-MTB

Pivot Cycles Shuttle AM electric mountain bike

Pivot has redesigned its Shuttle e-MTB, releasing the sleeker Shuttle AM which sits in between the gravity-oriented Shuttle LT and the lightweight Shuttle SL. It's not just a significant frame redesign either, this is Pivot's first Bosch-powered e-MTB.

As you have probably deduced from the AM acronym, it's aimed at all-mountain riding. The frame features Dave Weagle’s DW Link suspension system that delivers 148mm of rear travel, paired with a 160mm fork, and has the option of either running 29 or 27.5-inch wheels using a flip-chip. Pivot says the Shuttle AM hits the all-mountain sweet spot to strike a balance and make it one of the best electric mountain bikes for most e-MTBers.

"We are thrilled to introduce the Shuttle AM to the world," says Chris Cocalis, founder, and CEO of Pivot. “The Shuttle AM is our first project partnering with Bosch and showcases our commitment to pushing the limits of innovation and design. This bike embodies the perfect fusion of versatility and performance. It’s an e-MTB that every rider will enjoy."

Previously, Pivot has specced its bikes with motors from Shimano and Fazua but this is the first time Pivot has used Bosch's best e-MTB motors on its bikes. The Shuttle AM comes in a couple of configurations. The Shuttle AM Ride and Pro models use Bosch's Performance Line CX Motor, while the Team model gets uses the more powerful limited edition CX Race Motor, which increases support from 340 percent to 400 percent.

The Pro and Team models are powered by a 750Wh battery, while the Shuttle AM Ride gets a smaller 625Wh unit. The bikes are compatible with the Bosch 250wh PowerMore Range Extender if you need more juice to get you over the hills.

There's an integrated Power and Mode Display in the top tube and a wireless handlebar remote to switch between motor modes while riding.

The carbon Shuttle frame has had a significant redesign too, gone is the oddly bulbous downtube and horizontal shock position. Instead, the Shuttle has been brought in line with Pivot's other two e-MTBs which gives enough space inside the frame for a water bottle and an accessory mount under the top tube.

Pivot has made sure to armor the chainstays, seat stays, lower-pivot area, and around the motor to prevent any damage from trail debris. Unusually, Pivot have opted for 157mm-wide Super Boost hub spacing at the rear.

There is a flip-chip on the top of the seatstay that gives half a degree of angle adjustment and raises or lowers the bottom bracket height by 5mm – to better fit your chosen rear wheel size should you want to run a mixed wheel mullet setup.

In the low position, the headtube angle remains almost the same as the previous model at 64.1 degrees, but the seat tube has been steepened to 76.4 degrees. To account for the steeper seat tube, the reach has been increased by 20mm to 461mm on a medium sized bike. The bottom bracket height has been dropped by 13mm to 345mm and the chainstay is marginally longer at 444mm across all sizes.

Pivot offers three build variations of the Shuttle AM, starting with the Shuttle AM Ride priced at $8,999 / £N/A / €9,399.
