Piers Morgan has shared a rather amusing story about his encounter with actress Raquel Welch who died aged 82.
It was announced on Wednesday that the global icon who appeared in films such as One Million Years B.C and Fantastic Boyage had battled a "brief illness" before passing.
Raquel's family confirmed to American media that she had passed away earlier in the day on Wednesday before they shared the devastating news.
As celebrities and fans from across the globe mourned her death, television star Piers Morgan took to social media to recall his brief encounter with the star who once appeared on his Life Stories show.
In view of his 8.3 million Twitter followers, he said: "RIP Raquel Welch. A wonderful lady. On the day of our Life Stories show, she invited me to her suite at the Dorchester but rang to cancel as I was excitedly en route, explaining: 'Sorry Piers, I just remembered I never take tea in the morning with any man I haven't slept with.'"
Fans instantly flocked to the replies section of his post, with one writing: "Thank you for posting this. My favourite memory of Raquel is when I threw her flowers during her curtain call when she starred in the George Bernard Shaw play 'The Millionaires' at a Massachusetts theatre. Just as lovely and gracious in person as she was on the silver screen."
"A beautiful and iconic lady and actress. I really enjoyed many of her films too. Some are a bit dated today, but at the time as a kid too, they were great. RIP," commented a second.
While another recalled: "My memory of that interview was when she came into the studio pre-show and instructed the lighting director as to how she wanted her lighting!"
Raquel won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her 1974 role in The Three Musketeers.
Despite being a major sex symbol in Hollywood, the actress refused to strip for the camera and even famously refused to pose nude for Playboy.
Speaking about Welch, Hugh Hefner once said: "Raquel Welch, one of the last of the classic sex symbols, came from the era when you could be considered the sexiest woman in the world without taking your clothes off, she declined to do complete nudity, and I yielded gracefully, the pictures prove her point."
Over the course of her career, Requel stood her ground and refused to undress on camera stating that was the way she had been brought up.
