Piers Morgan 'felt let down by Susanna Reid' after quitting Good Morning Britain following Meghan Markle disagreement

Piers Morgan's high-profile exit from Good Morning Britain (GMB) was dramatic and made headlines for days. However, he has now opened up about the outburst and revealed he felt "let down" by former colleague Susanna Reid in the aftermath of the drama.

The presenter sensationally quit the ITV morning show back in March 2021. He stormed off the set following a disagreement with weatherman Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle and the controversial Oprah Winfrey interview.

Later that day, Piers confirmed he had left the show after he refused to apologise for the comments he had made on-air. Now, the ex-GMB presenter has been reported as saying he felt "let down" by his co-stars in light of the support that Gary Lineker received from his Match Of The Day co-hosts.

Gary "stepped back" from the show after his tweets relating to the Government's policy on refugees and immigration. He had called the Government's new asylum policy "immeasurably cruel" - adding the language used was "not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s".

After being suspended, Gary's co-hosts, along with other high profile figures, showed support for the former England player, with fellow presenters boycotting Match of the Day. He has since been reinstated.

According to a report in the Mirror, Piers felt disappointed he didn't get the same reaction from his GMB co-stars. The 57-year-old tweeted "would have been nice to see the same solidarity" in response to a fan asking him "were you disappointed that none of your colleagues didn't present the day after you left GMB?"

A source claimed that Piers' tweet was actually directed towards Susanna, who he co-hosted to show with with between 2015 and 2021. "Piers' tweet was a cheeky dig at Susanna," a source explained to OK!

"He feels not just the TV executives should have been more supportive, but his co-hosts – including Susanna – should have been, too. No one came out and backed him, only his family, no one he worked side by side with.

"He felt let down." The Mirror contacted Piers Morgan's representatives for comment.
