Piers Morgan and Ant & Dec feud continues as TalkTV host responds to pair's cheeky quips

Piers Morgan's feud with Ant & Dec continues, after the pair made a dig at the TalkTV presenter following their win at last night's BAFTAs.

Piers, 57, was steaming after the pair beat him to the Best Presenter gong last year at the National TV Awards (NTAs) last year, the 20th time they won the accolade, saying everyone was "sick and tired" of the pair being victorious.

And last night the feud was cheekily reignited by the presenting duo, after they picked up the Best Entertainment Programme award for Saturday Night Takeaway at the BAFTA TV Awards.

When asked about the possibility of being "hated" by the controversial host during the winners' conference, Ant, 46, said: "That's great, I don't mind that."

Dec, 46 quipped that if their wins kept upsetting Piers, then they "we're doing something right".

Piers then tweeted a story about their comments, saying: "I couldn't be less happy for you, lads @antanddec," followed by a thumbs up.

Speaking about last night's win, the pair said the gong means "more now than it ever did."

“This means a lot tonight, to still be nominated 17 years later and still be winning 17 years on means an awful lot, said Ant.

“We’re thrilled to be able to do this job and still get away with it after all these years.

"It means more now than it ever did."

Dec went on: “We’re going to keep going as long as we can as long as the knees and back hold out. SNT is what we always wanted to make because we grew up on these kind of shows. It’s proper British Saturday night entertainment.”

At the NTAs last year, ahead of their win, the Geordie pair joked on the red carpet: "Piers? Who? Piers who? Is he the guy who used to be on TV? Yeah, think we remember him!"

Following their award, Piers took to Twitter to vent his frustration.

He said: "I deserve to win because everyone's sick and tired of Ant and Dec automatically winning this award, which bears no relation to reality.

"They've done nothing special in the last year, even they would admit that.

"I think it's time the procession came to a shuddering halt and the Morgan bandwagon was rewarded with glory.

"We can't have those two little vain-glorious Geordies standing there for the 20th consecutive year. Ant got one one year when he hadn't even worked. It's ridiculous."

Ant & Dec weren't the only ones who made a dig at Piers Morgan last night. Steve Coogan as his alter ego Alan Partridge took aim at Piers' new show on TalkTV during a pre-recorded clip.

Alan said: “Sadly, I can’t be with you because I’m on a nationwide tour, performing to an audience bigger than Piers Morgan gets on the actual telly. But the good thing with Piers is that it doesn’t bother him.”

The first episode saw 316,800 viewers tune in for the explosive pre-recorded conversation but that figure slipped to an average of 61,700 seven days later (Monday May 2).

Despite the 80 per cent slide in viewers, Piers Morgan: Uncensored still beat GB News and Sky News during the one-hour period.
