Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left Arsenal for Barcelona earlier this week.
His exit means that the Gunners have lost their main source of goals in recent years.
Whilst they will need to address that issue in the summer transfer market, for the remainder of the season, the club have predominantly entrusted Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah - both of whom are expected to follow Aubameyang through the exit door - with the burden of finding the form needed to fire Arsenal to the Champions League.
But they have a third centre-forward option available to them in Gabriel Martinelli, a player who has been tipped to do great things in the game by none other than Aubameyang himself.
Speaking about the Brazilian in 2020 after he scored against Sheffield United, as cited by the Evening Standard, the Gabon international claimed that he will go on to become a 'superstar'.
"Gabi’s gonna be a superstar," he said. "Not because of the goal because of the attitude energy and mindset."
Whilst it's high-praise, it also suggests that Mikel Arteta already has someone at his disposal who is capable of replacing Aubameyang's goal output at the Emirates Stadium in the long-term.
The 32-year-old found the net 92 times in an Arsenal shirt in just 163 appearances, winning the Premier League Golden Boot as well as an FA Cup in a four-year stay with the club.
Martinelli has already shown that he has the talent to eventually reach numbers like that, but some fine-tuning is still required.
The Gunners are likely to strengthen the striker position in the summer, but developing the 20-year-old into a confident front man will provide healthy competition for Arteta moving forward.
