Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has previously admitted he would love to play for Real Madrid despite potentially joining arch-rivals Barcelona.
The Gabon international was stripped of the club's captaincy last month following a disciplinary breach and football.london reported over the festive period that the Gunners were open to offers for the former Borussia Dortmund star.
Saudi club Al-Nassr were keen to sign Aubameyang but he rebuffed their proposals as he wants to continue playing in Europe, with La Liga giants Barcelona interested in his services.
Now, the 32-year-old is set to have a medical this evening ahead of his move to the Blaugrana, football.london understands.
The veteran centre-forward's move to the Nou Camp appeared to be off earlier on deadline day as he arrived in Catalonia before the two clubs had managed to strike an agreement.
But Barcelona president Joan Laporta has since admitted "it seems that we will pull it off," before Monday night's 11pm deadline.
However, Aubameyang has previously made it no secret of his desire to play for the La Liga side's rivals Real Madrid, claiming that he promised his grandfather he would one day play for Los Blancos.
“Before he died two years ago I promised him that one day I would play for Real Madrid,” the frontman told French outlet L’Equipe back in 2016.
“My grandfather was from Avila, not far from Madrid. It’s what I said to him. I know it’s not easy but it’s something I keep in mind.
“I celebrate my goals with a cartwheel in honour of Hugo Sanchez. I’ve seen many videos of him on the internet and I’ve been following him since I was a boy.”
He added: “To play for Madrid or for another great club in La Liga would be a nice gift to my mother, Margarita, who is Spanish.”
