Pierce Brosnan admitted being a superhero was the last thing he thought he would do - after previously auditioning for Tim Burton's Batman and not getting it.
The Irish actor is set to star as ‘Doctor Fate’ in DC’s new mega-movie Black Adam.
But the Bond actor, 69, said he had never planned on adding ‘superhero’ to his already impressive CV.

"Now I’m a superhero. I didn't expect this, it was the last thing on my mind to be playing a superhero like Doctor Fate,” he said on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
"I mean, I went up for Batman, way back in the day when Tim Burton was doing it. Obviously I didn't get the job.”
"But I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton. Like, I said, you know, I can't understand any man who would wear his underpants outside his trousers,” he added, laughing.
"And so it's just there you go, the best man got the job and you know Doctor Fate and I were meant to meet on the same page I think."
The new flick will see the Mamma Mia actor in a whole new light as he makes his superhero debut alongside Dwayne Johnson - decked out in a cape and a shiny gold helmet.
But he said it isn’t all glamour behind the scenes, admitting he couldn’t see out of the mask when he was filming.
“Everyone wants to know what it was like putting on the costume, what it was like putting on the helmet.
"You know you can't see a thing, it's darkness.
“There were two helmets.
"There was this stylish gorgeous-looking sleek helmet and then there was one that I actually could put on.
"But of course you are standing there in a mocap suit, a motion capture suit, which is the most inelegant and kind of humorous thing to wear. Ping pong balls, grey tights, you know, you got to have a sense of humour.
"But I remember Jaume Collet-Serra the director, he said there was a point where I had to find this crown and he said, I'm standing there and I'm giving it my best heroic acting and he said ok put the helmet on, I said don't worry I can see it, it's right there.
"I put it on, of course I couldn’t see anything.
"Anyway, it was good fun to do. It was a lovely company of actors,” he added.
He also told how he added his own personal touch to the role.
"I wore my own wedding ring, which I never do," Brosnan told USA Today.
"And I wore my own timepiece, a beautiful Montblanc timepiece that my wife Keely gave me that is inscribed with, 'Time flies on love's wings.'
“Those are personal talismans I brought to the character."
"It just seemed fitting, and based on my research, it worked."
Black Adam is in cinemas Friday 21 October.
