A photo of ‘Mr Flashy’ associate Scott Capper has been placed at a memorial for gangland victim James Whelan, it has emerged.
This publication has obtained this picture of jailed thug Capper with Whelan — who was gunned down and killed by ‘Mr Flashy’s mob on Sunday. The picture is believed to have been placed at the memorial site in tribute to Whelan by someone known to Capper, despite the mob that he once stood with being responsible for Whelan’s death.
The memorial, which features several photos of Whelan on a tree and flowers surrounding it, is located at Deanstown Avenue, where the gangster was shot in the back by Mr Flashy’s mob early on Sunday.

Scott Capper was a key member of Mr Flashy’s notorious ‘Gucci Gang’ crew before he was jailed over two violent assaults. This publication has also learned that a close associate of jailed gangland murderer ‘Fat’ Freddie Thompson went to the memorial site yesterday to pay his respects.
It is understood that the young thug, who is well known to gardai and considered to be a dangerous up-and-coming criminal, was pals with the slain mobster. Both incidents depict just how interconnected the gangland world is — with Whelan being well-known to members of the Kinahan cartel and Hutch faction also.
Sources say gardai now believe a key associate of the mob boss known as ‘Mr Flashy’ was the gunman who shot Whelan. It is believed Whelan was attempting to carry out a petrol bomb attack on a property connected to Mr Flashy when he was shot while running away.,
His murder is the most serious escalation in what was a simmering feud between two young warring factions in Finglas. Gardai now fear further violence after both sides were less than subtle about their intentions in brazen social media posts in the days following the murder.
In one vile social media taunt, associates of Mr Flashy openly mock Whelan (29) in a post captioned: “What did them bullets taste like James?” The shocking social media post, which features video footage of a man firing a gun at a photoshopped picture of Whelan, came a day after the young criminal was executed in Deanstown Avenue.
The video also features news coverage of Whelan’s murder as well as a screenshot of a previous social media post made in February, in which the mob threatened to take the gangster’s life. The post, which said “ask Wheela what size is he in a wooden box” was made on February 10 — and now the gang are claiming in this new video that it “wasn’t a threat, it was a promise.”
Meanwhile, associates of Whelan have separately vowed revenge on Mr Flashy’s mob — with associates again taking to social media to make their voices heard. One anonymous post seen by The Star features a picture of Whelan with the caption: “We will finish this for you bro once and for all.”
The feud between both sides has been at boiling point since an associate of Mr Flashy was abducted, beaten up and dumped in Finglas last month. James Whelan was well known to gardai and had 57 previous convictions.
The killing is the first murder in the feud between the Flashy mob and associates of Whelan — but there has been a lot of trouble between the two factions for months.
