Photos show the extent of a fire at a business at a city industrial estate that sent thick, black plumes of smoke billowing into the sky. Taken on Saturday evening (May 13), alarms could be heard from the site at The Midway, off Harrimans Lane, in Dunkirk, to the west of the A52 Clifton Boulevard.
Six fire engines and the aerial ladder platform were sent to the incident, with two firefighters in breathing apparatus tackling the flames using a hose reel jet.
The incident has been declared over and with no injuries reported. On Saturday evening the fire service told local residents to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke.

The emergency service response was scaled down at about 12.30am on Sunday (May 14), with some crews leaving the site. All crews then left the scene 30 minutes later, at 1am. The fire service added: "Thank you to local residents and businesses for their support."
The Midway, off Harrimans Lane, is home to a number of businesses. However, the business affected is yet to be officially confirmed.
It marks the latest in a number of fires that have been reported near Harrimans Lane, close to the Lenton Lane Industrial Estate, in recent years. One such example was in November 2021, when a huge fire broke out at the Sims Metal site, with the incident tackled by more than 100 firefighters.
