The Boston Celtics likely did not expect to have their hands full against the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center on Monday night, and for the most part, they were right about that. The Blazers kept the game close throughout most of the first frame, but Boston broke it open for good by the end of the quarter in a contest they never trailed by more than 2 points.
The Celtics won the battle of the boards 45-39, the march of dimes 34-22, blocks 10 to 5, and turned the ball over just 3 times to Portland’s 11. Boston would lead the Blazers by as much as 24 points, but ended the contest with a 121-99 win.
