Photographer stunned after capturing wave that looks exactly like Queen legend Brian May

A photographer captured an enormous wave in Harrington that looks a lot like Queen legend Brian May.

Garry McKeating took a photo of water crashing onto a sea wall yesterday and afterwards spotted the resemblance.

In case you're struggling to make it out, the wave looks like a side profile of May's head, complete with his trademark big hair, leaning back as if the rock star is grinding out a guitar solo.

Gary, from Workington, said: "I always check waves for faces or animals as a bit of fun.

"In the past I’ve had pictures that showed the water looking like dogs and swans.

"At first I thought this one looked like a lover's embrace, but I can see Brian May in there."

The part-time photographer said he enjoys shooting landscapes in and around the West Coast of Cumbria.

He added that patience is important: "Sometimes you have to wait a long time for a great photo but it is worth it.”

Last year we reported on a 30ft wave that looked like the ancient sea god Poseidon.

A photo of the wave, whipped up by Storm Justine in February 2021, resembles a face with a crown.

Mathieu Rivrin, who captured the incredible moment near his home in Lesconil, Brittany, was shocked to see what he thought was the face of the Greek god.

The 31-year-old said: "When I took the images, the most powerful waves of the storm were striking the French coast.

"The waves were 10m high and when they hit the wall, the explosion was sometimes around 50m high.

"I saw the incredible image of Poseidon with his crown, coming out of the ocean with his face in the wave.'

In Greek mythology, Poseidon is the violent and ill-tempered god of the sea, as well as the feared provoker of earthquakes and creator of the horse.

A hot-blooded deity, Poseidon had many disputes with both gods and men, most famously with Athena and Odysseus.
