Additionally, a town mayor in Tarlac province is facing allegations of links to an online gambling complex and fraudulent concealment of Chinese nationality. The crackdown on the online gambling industry has revealed instances of corruption within regulatory agencies and local government.
President Marcos has directed the gaming agency to wind down Philippine offshore gaming operators by the end of the year, with plans to assist displaced Filipino workers in finding alternative employment. He also outlined initiatives to address economic challenges, including rising costs and poverty.
In addressing the issue of dangerous drugs, Marcos emphasized a more humane approach compared to previous administrations. Regarding territorial disputes with China in the South China Sea, the President reiterated the Philippines' commitment to peaceful resolution through diplomatic channels.
