Philadelphia Union manager Jim Curtin has revealed Jesse Marsch approached him about signing Kai Wagner. Leeds United have been linked with a move for the German left-back, who joined the MLS outfit in 2019.
Wagner’s contract expires at the end of December but the Union have an option to extend by another year. The 25-year-old starred in their 4-1 victory against Chicago Fire on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Ahead of the clash, Philadelphia media outlet Brotherly Game relayed what Curtin said about the Leeds links pre-match. A tweet read: “Curtin says he's talked with Jesse Marsch about Kai Wagner's status.

“Says that the team would like Wagner to stay, but that Kai would also like to play at the highest level. The club are still waiting for official offers to come in. (It is a) still to be determined, kind of situation."
Left-back is a concerning position for Leeds at present, with Pascal Struijk operating as a makeshift in the opening two fixtures. Marsch did confirm ahead of the 2-2 draw against Southampton that Junior Firpo is nearing a comeback early than expected following a hip injury.
