Phil Mickelson What’s In The Bag?
Phil Mickelson was a Callaway staff ambassador for many years, but that partnership no longer exists. The manufacturer decided to pause their relationship following his controversial comments about the Saudi government during a conversation with golf biographer Alan Shipnuck in 2022.
The HyFlyers captain may no longer be on the Callaway playing staff, but he still plays a number of its clubs. These days, Lefty has a mixed line-up of brands in the bag and would appear quite comfortable chopping and changing as he sees fit.
Driver
What Driver Does Phil Mickelson Use?
Lefty is happy to try different models of driver. Over the last few years, the American has had a Callaway Epic Speed driver (which had just 5.25° of loft), a Callaway Rogue ST Max and a Ping G430. However, for the time being he would appear to have settled on using a Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond driver. We believe it has 8.5° of loft and is fitted with the Fujikura Ventus TR Red 6 X shaft.
Mickelson also has a TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver; it's a club that might not make it into the bag every week, but one that he does like to use. This club has 11.5° of loft and is fitted with the Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft. The stand-out feature of this driver, as the name would suggest, is the size. At just 304cc, it is noticeably more compact than any of the best golf drivers. It's most likely a club that Mickelson can call upon when he's in search of a bit more control.
Fairway Woods
What Fairway Wood Does Phil Mickelson Use?
This is another part of the bag that the six-time Major winner tends to experiment with from time to time. At present, it appears as though he has a Callaway Apex UW (utility wood) in the bag that is fulfilling the role of a fairway wood. We're not certain of the loft, but this versatile offering - which isn't what you'd call a fairway wood or a hybrid - is fitted with a Fujikura Ventus Red 9 X shaft.
Mickelson was involved in this club's development and joined other Callaway staffers in calling for a “go to” club that better players could count on from the tee, fairway or rough. It appears that he still enjoys playing with what he helped to come up with.
Hybrid
What Hybrid Does Phil Mickelson Use?
Interestingly, Mickelson has also been seen playing with a Ping Anser hybrid. It's our understanding that this has 17° of loft and is fitted with a Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Prototype shaft.
Irons
What Irons Does Phil Mickelson Use?
Mickelson currently has a 22° Callaway X Forged UT iron and Callaway X Forged 2013 irons (6-9). They are fitted with the KBS Tour-V 125 shaft. The American is regarded as one of the finest ball-strikers of his generation, so it's no surprise to see him playing with a set of old favorites.
Wedges
What Wedges Does Phil Mickelson Use?
Mickelson, one of the best short game players of all time, carries two Callaway wedges and a Ping Eye2 XG. His Callaway wedges are the Jaws Raw, 50° and 56° (50-10S, 56-12W), whilst his old Ping wedge is his lob wedge. We're not certain what loft it is.
Putter
What Putter Does Phil Mickelson Use?
At the LIV Golf Invitational - Las Vegas in February, it appeared as though Mickelson had returned to using an Odyssey 9 putter, although we're not certain of the exact model.
Ball
What Ball Does Phil Mickelson Use?
Mickelson plays the Callaway Chrome Soft X Triple Track, a ball which features a multi-coloured alignment aid. The Callaway Chrome Soft is one of the best premium golf balls on the market. If you’re looking for a ball that will offer control and distance off the tee, and soft feel on the greens, this model is well worth considering.
Apparel/Shoes
What Shoes Does Phil Mickelson Wear?
Mickelson clearly prioritizes comfort, for Cuater manufacture some of the most comfortable golf shoes on the market, a brand that Jon Rahm and Sam Burns have also worn in the past. Cuater is owned by TravisMathew, Mickelson's choice of golf clothing.
