Pfizer's Atirmociclib Held Off Breast Cancer Progression for 9.4 Months Versus 6.6 After CDK4/6 Drugs Stopped Working

An experimental Pfizer pill kept advanced breast cancer from growing for a median of 9.4 months, compared with 6.6 months on standard treatment, in patients whose cancer had already outgrown drugs such as Ibrance, according to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The drug, atirmociclib, was given with the hormone therapy fulvestrant in the Phase 2 FOURLIGHT-1 trial. Dr. Antonio Giordano, interim director of Dana-Farber's Center for Cancer Therapeutic Innovation, is scheduled to present the full data on October 24 at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress in Madrid.
