An online petition has been launched to award Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper the Freedom of Nottingham.
The 42-year-old Welshman helped the Reds earn promotion to the Premier League after 23 years away from the top flight. Cooper and his achievements have been heavily praised in the football world by supporters, players and pundits from across the game. If this petition takes off, he could now be in line for political recognition too.
Set up by Forest fan and owner of brianclough.com, Marcus Alton, the petition has 66 signatures at the time of writing, though that figure is likely to climb quite quickly.
