Comic Peter Kay is reportedly set to return to the live stage for a 'huge' UK tour.
There are hopes the Phoenix Nights star will include Newcastle dates on the comeback tour. The Bolton native had seven shows at the Utilita Arena, Newcastle, lined up for a 2019 tour which he had to cancel for "personal reasons".
Reports today claim the Car Share star is returning for a stand-up tour at "huge venues across the country", according to a source cited by The Sun. They add: "Peter has not performed a live stand-up set on a big stage in well over a decade now but he could not be more ready to get back out there."

While Newcastle's Arena is not directly named by the source as a potential venue, it has hosted Kay's previous tours. His cancelled Newcastle dates in 2019 were completely sold out. The rumoured tour has been described as "huge", indicating Tyneside could be a likely stop if and when Kay does return to the live stage.
While Kay stepped out of the limelight after he cancelled his last tour, he has been spotted out and about recently, appearing at a charity event in his hometown, where he told fans he feels "great". He also hosted Dance For Life events in April and took part in a Q&A night in Manchester.
If an arena tour goes ahead, it would be Kay's first since 2010.
