Pete Doherty, Noel Gallagher, and Paul Weller - Newcastle's Andrew Cushin to support music legends

Geordie singer Andrew Cushin has described how it will be a 'pinch-me' moment when he performs on the same stage as Paul Weller this summer.

At just 22 years old, Cushin has already been signed by Pete Doherty's Strap Originals Label and worked with Oasis legend Noel Gallagher on one of his tracks. Now, the Heaton singer-songwriter can add another iconic name to his impressive music CV - the one and only Paul Weller.

Cushin, who has just released his debut EP, 'You Don't Belong,' will support Weller at three of his UK gigs in Kent, Lincolnshire and Bedfordshire in June and July.

And it's a dream come true for the Newcastle lad who grew up listening to The Jam and The Style Council.

"It’s just a pleasure and a privilege to support someone like Paul Weller," Cushin said.

"He’s influenced my music and writing hugely. I was brought up listening to The Jam, The Style Council and Paul’s solo projects.

"It’s going to be a surreal experience but one I’m immensely looking forward to."

And having his name on the same bill as Weller comes during a busy month for Cushin who is also set to support Pete Doherty, and Noel Gallagher when they perform at Rock N Roll Circus in Newcastle next month.

The 'Catch Me If You Can' singer will support Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds when they headline the new festival on Newcastle's Town Moor on June 9. Described as all-new touring concept, the event will feature a mix of live music from performers including The Charlatans, as well as entertainment ranging from a Ferris wheel to tightrope walkers.

But it won't be the first time he's met Gallagher. The Oasis legend agreed to produce Cushin's track, 'Where's My Family Gone' - even playing the guitar and performing backing vocals on the tune which won over critics.

Working with such music legends shows just how far Cushin has come in three years. From playing at Newcastle's social clubs to releasing his own music, the young Geordie is now set to embark on a headline tour of the UK and Ireland later this year.
