Pete Davidson 'charged with reckless driving after crashing car into Beverly Hills home'

Pete Davidson has reportedly been charged with reckless driving after being involved in a car accident in Beverly Hills earlier this year.

In March, the 29-year-old comedian, who had his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders as a passenger in his car at the time, was said to be driving through the Flats neighbourhood of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, at high speed when he lost control of his car.

Police said Pete's car drove over the curb, hit a fire hydrant and then crashed into the side of a nearby house.

The car caused significant damage to the side of the house but did not manage to enter the property.

No one was injured during the accident.

And following a police investigation into the crash, TMZ has now reported that Pete has been charged with one count of reckless driving by the L.A. County District Attorney's Office.

Reckless driving can carry a sentence of up to ninety days in jail as well as a $1,000 fine.

Mirror have contacted a representative for Pete for comment.

At the time, police told TMZ that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

Meanwhile, it has been a tumultuous time for the comedian lately, who was recently slammed by PETA for his "tragic" decision to get a puppy with his new girlfriend.

Pete is said to have bought a cavapoo puppy from Citipups in Manhattan last month, with him spotted at the pet store with Chase.

He reportedly "fell in love" with the puppy after seeing a photo of him and the four-legged companion is said to have been from a breeder.

The website for Citipups - which has two stores in the city - states it provides a service that "bridges the gap between responsible breeders and prospective puppy parents".

However, his decision to get a puppy prompted some criticism over his decision not to adopt a rescue dog from a shelter.

Animal rights charity PETA has since addressed the controversy, calling on the comedian to consider adopting in the future following the "tragic" situation recently.

Daphna Nachminovitch, the Senior VP of Cruelty Investigations at PETA, has told TMZ: "It's tragic that Pete didn't seek out a borough-born mutt from a city animal shelter, because a scrappy New Yorker with charm, personality, and unconventional handsomeness could have been his perfect match."

Urging the actor to consider adopting next time, Daphna said: "Since shelters in New York and across the country are overflowing with homeless animals,

PETA urges Pete to show some big heart energy by adopting, not shopping, in the future."
