Perthshire’s gold medal-winning Olympian Eve Muirhead has joined Live Active Leisure’s voluntary board of directors.
Muirhead, who grew up in Blair Atholl, is a stalwart of the ice having swept to success on the national and international stage throughout a glittering career.
Earlier this year, she won gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing while representing Team GB.
Her illustrious career on the ice began at Dewars Centre, which is run by Live Active Leisure.
Muirhead said: “I have long been a believer in ensuring that all of our community and particularly our young people have quality affordable access to sport and fitness.
“After the support I have received from Dewars Centre and Live Active Leisure in my career, I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Live Active board to support their aspirations to help everyone live active lives in Perth and Kinross.
“I am particularly pleased to return to my sporting roots in Perth and look forward to inspiring more young athletes to meet their goals.”
David MacLehose, chair of the Board of Live Active,” said: “We are so pleased that Eve could join us on the board of directors at Live Active Leisure.
“As a world-renowned athlete and ambassador for the benefits of taking part in sport from a young age, Eve is well-placed to work with us and the whole Live Active team to support the people of Perth and Kinross in their aspirations to live active lives.
“Her knowledge from curling across the globe will be invaluable in assisting LAL refining the design details of PH2O to attract curlers to international events in Perth.
“We also appreciate how busy Eve and all our directors are with their many work and personal commitments, so it is wonderful that she is able to make this commitment to her local leisure trust.”
