A Sega leaker has hinted that Persona 6 is probably still coming in 2027, despite the teaser trailer showing nothing about the game.
It feels weird to say it, but Atlus has announced Persona 6. It's been almost a decade since Persona 5 released in Japan, and we've been waiting so long for the next numbered entry. But really, it being announced hasn't changed much, since the trailer proceeded to show us absolutely nothing about the game. It had some spooky visuals, a logo and release platforms, and that was it! I'm excited, but I knew as much about it around 10 years ago as I do now, and some are concerned we'll have a long wait ahead of us like we did after Persona 5's first teaser.
But ResetEra user lolilolailo, who has been known for leaking info about Sega games for a few years (them teasing the theme of the too-silly-to-be-leaked Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii was enough to get my trust, personally) has commented on the teaser. When asked if 2027 was still the planned release date, they respond: "Don't read too much on the teaser not having 2027 in it, especially considering P4R is launching before."
And granted, it makes sense for Atlus to not overshadow the upcoming remake of Persona 4 with news about the next game in the series, with an Atlus lead suggesting we shouldn't expect more Persona 6 info until after Persona 4 Revival releases. Many are predicting we'll see a repeat of Atlus' 2024, where the Persona 3 remake released in early 2024 while the Persona-adjacent Metaphor: ReFantazio released in October.
So, despite Atlus giving us nothing, it sounds like the dream may still be on the cards and we could be playing Persona 6 next year. At least I hope so – it's been too long.
Persona 4 Revival finally gets a release date, and boy does it look good.
