A person has been hit by a train near Airdrie.
ScotRail alerted passengers to the incident, which is understood to have taken place on the tracks between Airdrie and Uphall, shortly after 2.50pm on Wednesday January 19.
The condition of the person involved is not known at this time.
Services between Milngavie and Edinburgh via Airdrie and Bathgate are cancelled or terminated at Drumgelloch.
A statement from the train operator on social media, read: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Airdrie and Uphall.
"Our services between Milngavie and Edinburgh via Airdrie and Bathgate will be cancelled or terminated at and started back from Drumgelloch."
ScotRail has said they will provide further updates, with the incident currently ongoing.
Replacement buses are in operation between Airdrie and Edinburgh Park.
Valid train tickets are also being accepted on selected Edinburgh Tram services.
Affected passengers can also travel on alternative rail routes, where applicable, between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Falkirk High and via Cumbernauld.
The British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
